If any of you read my post some time ago about the difficulties of getting your foot in the door as a young graduate designer, then you might remember that I have little faith in the university system for empowering tomorrows talent with the necessary knowhow to landing that first big break. When I was contacted by a plucky representative of this demographic to tell me that this post had struck a chord, I was impressed with her work, endeavour and downright tenacity enough to offer the opportunity to follow up with her own guest post regarding a very modern and sensible outlook on getting into the big wide world.
I would like to introduce Melissa Reilly - who we'd snap up in a shot if she weren't based in Scotland and we were in fact hiring (which we aren't at the moment, sadly).
Today I have been trawling through web sites trying to find a decent print supplier for my own personal wedding albums which, much like our invitations and other wedding based stationery items have been toiled over and crafted into something special and unique by my own fair hand (under pain of death from my new wife). I am aware that because I only intend to produce enough for me, my mum and dad, my wife's mum and dad and the respective grandparents we are not exactly going to make any printer weep with joy at the prospect of our huge order and massive budget and so I have to immediately eliminate any I find which have cruelly stipulated a minimum order.
